 The Incident: A Child Died by Suicide One Hour After a DCF Visit A child in Connecticut tragically took their own life, and get this, it happened just an hour after they'd told DCF workers they weren't safe and actually asked to be placed in foster care. DCF, unbelievably, told the kiddo that foster care just "was not an option." This awful situation really stirred things up. We saw an urgent letter from Connecticut’s Child Advocate, Christina Ghio, a big statewide review of how DCF handles cases, a ton of outrage from legislators, and plenty of public scrutiny about DCF's staffing, how they're supervised, and how they make decisions.
